Obituary: Ramon A. Melton

Ramon A. Melton, 79, of Ithaca, passed away Saturday, July 02, 2016 at the Hospicare Residence. He was born in Ithaca, son of the late Clifford and Rose Melton. Ray is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lillie Melton; his sons, Christopher Melton, Leonard Melton and Ralph (Millie Velasquez) Melton and his daughter, Thyess Melton. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph (Joyce) Melton; his sisters, Carol Ann Phillips and Sharon (Ronnie) Harvey; ten grandchildren eight great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his daughter, Rayvetta Melton.

Ray was retired from Lambda Chi Alpha where he had been their chef for 37 years and had been made a fraternity brother. He had served on the Board of the Ithaca Housing Authority.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 08, 2016 at 1 pm at the Calvary Baptist Church, 507 N. Albany St., Ithaca. Visitation will take place in the church prior to the service beginning at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.
