Alex “Baba” Aidun ’08

Alexander W. Aidun ’08, “Baba” to his friends, is chair of the Matthew Patrick Omans Memorial Committee, which supports mental health initiatives on campus to honor the memory of the late Matt Omans '10, Baba's little brother.
Through his work with the Omans Fund, he became involved with the Edgemoor Leadership Foundation and the Campaign for Omicron Zeta. In 2017 he served as the Alumni Advisor, or High Pi, for the chapter, on which he recruited and organized the first formal Alumni Advisory Board for Omicron Zeta.
Through the Matthew Patrick Omans Memorial Fund, Baba worked to create a grant and memorial initiative focusing on collegiate mental health, generating significant publicity and contributions. He sponsors talks on mental health and wellness each semester, and in 2017 was a keynote speaker in the Delta Series of lectures for new fraternity and sorority members at Cornell.
As an undergraduate, Baba served as chapter ritualist and on the executive committee. A 2008 Information Systems, Science & Technology graduate from Cornell’s College of Engineering, Baba has spent much of his career in education technology, data management, and training. He is currently manager of education services at Qubole, a cloud data storage and analytics firm, and resides in Manhattan.
