Philip B. Prigmore ’69

Philip B. Prigmore ’69 O-1065 was selected as lead architect and owner’s representative for the 2014–15 rehabilitation of Edgemoor, Lambda Chi Alpha’s historic fraternity house at Cornell. The chapter, alumni and undergraduate, are greatly appreciative for his expertise and dedication in seeing every detail of this project through.

Originally from Scarsdale, Bro. Prigmore is the owner of Philip B Prigmore, Preservation Planning and Design, a design studio in Alfred, New York; an Associate at JHL Tecture PC; and formerly the co-owner of The Whole Duck Catalogue, a design firm in Ithaca and Alfred, New York. n these positions, Philip has worked with clients, architects, and contractors to complete more than 200 successful rehabilitation projects. He also has had principal roles in the design of the Women's Rights Historical Park in Seneca Falls, New York, and in the rehabilitation of downtown Northport, Alabama.

He has enjoyed sharing his love of preservation and design as a visiting critic at the Swiss Federal Technical Institute in Zurich; at the University of Art and Design Lausanne ECAL in Renens/Lausanne, Switzerland; and at Alfred State College and Alfred University, both in Alfred, New York, where he served as campus planner for 20 years. He was elected chairman of the Alfred Historic Preservation Commission in July 2012 and wrote the submission for the Alfred Village Historic District for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places.

Originally from Scarsdale, New York, Philip graduated from Cornell University with a degree in architecture in 1969. He continued his studies at ETH Zürich, and in 1974 completed a program in Special Urban Studies at the University of Oxford, Magdalen College (Trinity term). Some of his early work includes the design and detail of the open-heart surgery facility of Georgetown University Hospital, with Metcalf & Associates, and as designer and liaison on the Hart Senate Office Building project, with Warnecke & Associates.
